The Multima Saga: The Multima Scheme by Gary D. McGugan
Fugitives on the run, kidnapping, power plays, and plenty of scandals—these are just a few of the ways Gary D. McGugan gets your heart pounding in The Multima Scheme, the second book in his suspenseful corporate drama series.
Picking up the day after Three Weeks Less a Day ended, McGugan’s next installment is even more captivating than its predecessor. Continuing to build out his cast of core characters—who are now starting to feel like old friends—McGugan adds depth and details to the personalities and back stories of CEO, John George Mortimer, division presidents Suzanne Simpson and James Fitzgerald, and disgraced ex-board director Howard Knight, while also introducing new faces to keep things interesting.
His plotlines also get more complex as he delves deeper into the inner workings of the Multima Corporation and the mixed motives of the executive team at its helm. Captain of the ship is John George, who recently managed to outsmart The Organization—a criminal outfit who wormed its way into owning shares and getting a seat on Multima’s board as part of a business deal—when they tried to overthrow him as CEO.
Now, he will stop at nothing to sever ties, which will prove to be his most difficult and dangerous business challenge yet. With The Organization, you can’t just walk away—you have to earn your freedom by staying one step ahead of their complicated mind games, while simultaneously adding your own twists into the mix. In an attempt to emerge victorious in this war of the wealthy and powerful, John George is turning to his most trusted colleagues for help . . . but it’s impossible to know who to trust.
The Organization has moles everywhere, and it quickly becomes apparent that very few people are who they appear to be. McGugan creates skin-tingling suspense that leaves you looking over your shoulder with each turn of the page, just waiting for deception and catastrophic consequences to reveal themselves.
A can’t-miss for readers who love a shocking finale. This thriller is masterfully written, bringing you along for the ride without revealing too much, too soon. Fans of Succession, House of Cards, or anything written by Sarah Vaughn will relish the relentless suspense and betrayals woven into every chapter. Nail biting until the very end, it feels like each chapter brings a new triumph or challenge, creating a compelling and captivating story you can’t finish fast enough.
