Are You Prepared for “Reading Season”?

We’re all busy. Between work responsibilities, family pressures, and the pesky complexities of living in our modern world, sometimes reading for relaxation takes a back seat to the pressing issues of the day. Spring and summer can often become a welcome antidote to those realities.

Over the coming six months, most Canadians will enjoy four 3-day weekends. Many will also enjoy shorter breaks at cottages or campgrounds away from cities. Some will embark on vacation trips to faraway destinations with long flights and perhaps unproductive connections in busy airports. Still others will enjoy leisurely hours lounging on park benches, basking in the summer sun and fresh outdoor air.

All those circumstances improve the chances for each of us to find more precious time for reading enjoyment.

As you prepare for the first of those coming long weekends, I encourage you to take stock of your reading material and TBR (to be read) stack. If it dwindled over the long, harsh winter, make time to visit your local bookstore this weekend and pick up a few books. It will be a great start to make the summer of 2026 even more enjoyable!
